A Little Bit About Us 

The Rolf Meyer Agency was founded in 1919 upon Rolf’s return from the army after World War I.  At the age of 27 he married Lorene Littel and started the insurance agency.  The business was located at their home at 208 Phillips Blvd.  In June of 1955 Paul Meyer, the youngest of Rolf and Lorene’s sons returned from the army and joined Rolf in the agency.  In November of 1955 Rolf died from a heart attack unrepentantly.  Paul along with his wife, Barbara, then purchased the business from Lorene in 1956 and relocated the agency to their home at 503 Phillips Blvd.  In 1980 the office was relocated to its current address at 511 Phillips Blvd. After traveling the world, in 1994 their daughter, Lise Meyer Kobussen, joined the agency and began managing the agency in 1999 when both Paul and Barbara Meyer retired.  In October of 2004, Lise along with her husband Dan purchased the agency from Paul and Barbara continuing the business into the third generation. Today, Lise continues to own and operate the business which will be celebrating our 105^th year anniversary later this fall.

Meyer Insurance Agency Inc, an Independent Insurance Agency, provides personal lines of insurance including auto, home, umbrella, recreational vehicles and life insurance and commercial lines of insurance including property, liability, workman’s compensation, business auto and inland marine through the many insurance companies they represent.

Three generations committed not only to the family owned and operated business but also a passion for serving the community.  Rolf Meyer was Sauk City’s village president from 1942 to 1946.  Paul Meyer was Village Trustee for 2 years and 9 years as a Sauk County Supervisor.  In addition, serving on Highway 12 four lane expansion, Sauk County parks development, Chamber of Commerce president, Historical Society president and many community events and improvements.  Lise following by example is a board member of the Chamber, served on a Village of Sauk City Ad Hoc committee, served on the board and was President of the Independent Insurance Agents of WI board, served as the president of the Sauk Prairie Area Historical Society and a founding member of the Riverway Business Connections networking group in Sauk Prairie. Meyer Insurance is an active sponsor of many local events and organizations such as, the Sauk Prairie Theater Guild, the Sauk Prairie Music Association, Cow Chip, Fire on the River, and many more.
